In
a
major

of
cultural
diplomacy,
the
Chinese
government
gets
its

Rome
under
a

an

signed
a

An

in

Lucknow
opens
this

at
the

(Lacma).
It
will
be
the
first
time
so
many
of
Lucknow’s
scattered
treasures
have
been
reassembled—many
coming
from
museums
in
the
UK
and
France,
nations
that
once
vied
to
make
the
city
the
jewel
in
their
imperial
crowns—to
create
a
picture
of
the
city
at
its
zenith.
Called
the
“Golden
City
of
the
East”,
Lucknow
was
the
capital
of
Awadh,
a
province
successively
ruled
by
the
Mughal
Emperors,
the
British
East
India
Company
and
then
as
part
of
the
British
Raj..
