Italy's Largest and Most Important Art Fair

Arte Fiera Art First celebrates its 35th edition this year, to be held in Bologna from 28 to 31 January 2011. One of the first international modern and contemporary art fairs organized in Italy in the 1970s, Arte Fiera has gradually become Italy’s largest and most important art fair. Every year, this must-see event is the first exhibition devoted to modern and contemporary art, and attracts gallery owners, collectors, curators, artists, and art lovers from Italy and around the world. The Photography Art of Phyllis Galembo

Of course, a lot of great photography like what you see from Phyllis Galembo has to do with access and the exploration of a given subject, but that ability to seek out these situations does make certain photographers stand apart. The subjects in Galembo's work are people and costumes we have never seen before, and her series' are unique explorations into parts of the world that are not often documented. Everything Is Vanity

Water, for me, is a place to research. Primordial water is the birthplace of works of art. Everything originated from small organisms that float in the waters, which were once transformed, not only in our imagination, into fantastic beings, like seductive sirens. Tenuous forms come to life through light, and suggest shapes through their absence. In my works—works built with ancient constructive techniques, but talking of the modern condition—the theme is the shell, the being in its appearance, sometimes without a real presence, in a society in which empty appearances scare us.
