POPRALLY PRESENTS
PRINTIN' & POETRY
April 28, 2012
8:00–11:00 p.m.
MoMA

Join PopRally for our inaugural foray into the world of modern poetry as we celebrate Printin', an exhibition that explores a range of themes, including the interplay between image and language. Led by acclaimed poet Terrance Hayes, a selection of New York–based poets will perform live readings in the Museum's Marron Atrium, which will be transformed for one night only into a downtown poetry salon. Featured poets will include Jen Bervin, Michael Dickman, Harmony Holiday, and Major Jackson. Guests will also enjoy exclusive access to the Printin' exhibition and a post-reading reception featuring the smooth sounds of DJ Huggy Bear.

Terrance Hayes, professor of creative writing at Carnegie Mellon University, is the author of Lighthead, winner of the 2010 National Book Award, as well as Wind in a Box, Muscular Music, and Hip Logic. Other honors include a Whiting Writers Award, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and a Guggenheim Fellowship.

Organized in conjunction with the exhibition Print/Out, Printin' brings together work by more than 50 artists from multiple disciplines to propose a free-flowing yet incisive web of associations that are reflected in Ellen Gallagher's DeLuxe (2004–05), a tour de force portfolio of 60 works that challenged traditional ideas of what a print could be.

Doors open at 8:00 p.m.; poetry readings begin at 9:00 p.m.

Admission includes reading, exhibition viewing, and cocktail reception.

TICKETS
($14 in advance, $16 at the door) are available online.

You must be 21 or older to attend this event.

PopRally is supported in part by The Friends of Education of The Museum of Modern Art.
