SEASONS GREETINGS FROM
EXPERIMENTA

As a friend of Experimenta, I wanted to thank you for your ongoing support in 2011 and take this opportunity to wish you Season's Greetings.

As Australia's pre-eminent contemporary media arts organisation we are committed to commissioning, exhibiting and promoting the best of Australian and International works. To this end, 2011 has seen us work tirelessly and because of our generous supporters we have been able to achieve so much.

Over the next few weeks, our current International Biennial of Media Art Experimenta Utopia Now will wrap up, showing for the last time at Albury LibraryMuseum from 3 December 3rd 2011 to January 29th 2012. We are very proud of the success of this Biennial, which has seen increasing audience numbers across the board.

Our 5th International Biennial of Media Art Experimenta Speak to Me, was announced and is an invitation to consider what it means, at this time, to be together. As our capacity for connectedness is integrated into our lives, how do we consider these new relationships to the world, technology and each other? We very much look forward to an expanded Biennial Program launching at new Venue Partner RMIT Gallery on September 14th 2012.

As part of our Biennial, we were delighted to announce our current commissioning program artists this year and are working closely with Jess MacNeil, Wade Marynowsky, Christopher Fulham and Katie Turnbull, providing the funds, resources and unique industry support to create new works of significant ambition and scale.

Below is a snapshot of some of this year's highlights:

  • Experimenta Utopia Now was chosen as the first touring exhibition at MONA and saw more than 44,000 people flock to the Hobart exhibition
  • We are co-presenting Selectively Revealed with Asialink touring Asia into 2012
  • Experimenta Screengrab is screening at Fed Square throughout December and works from Jess MacNeil, Emile Zile and Katie Murphy can be seen on the big screen most evenings at 6.30pm

Wishing you a safe break and happy New Year from Experimenta. Stay tuned for special events, industry news and media art happenings from Experimenta in 2012.
