The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College (CCS Bard) seeks an
accomplished curator, scholar, or critic to direct its graduate program in
curatorial studies, one of the preeminent programs worldwide for the
education of curators of contemporary art.
The Director of the
Graduate Program provides intellectual and administrative leadership of the
Center's graduate study and research programs. She or he is responsible for
curriculum development; teaching in the graduate program; faculty and
student recruitment; graduate program administration; and the development
of research projects, publications, and colloquia. The Director of the
Graduate Program is encouraged to develop exhibitions, public programs, and
publications for CCS Bard and the Hessel Museum of Art, as well as inviting
artists and curators-in-residence, guest speakers, and visiting faculty.
The Director of the Graduate Program works collaboratively with the CCS
Executive Director to coordinate the Center's educational, exhibitions, and
public programs and to fundraise for the graduate and research programs.
Candidates must have an advanced postgraduate degree (M.A., M.F.A,
or Ph.D.) in a field pertinent to the graduate program, close familiarity
with the contemporary visual arts and current curatorial and exhibition
practice, and significant experience teaching at the graduate level.
The Director of the Graduate Program is a full time, twelve month, academic
and administrative appointment with full benefits and competitive salary
commensurate with experience. The position is located on Bard College's
main campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Applicants must submit a
