The ICP-Bard MFA program in Advanced Photographic Studies is accepting
applications for Fall 2012 through the summer, as space allows.
The program is looking for engaged, visionary candidates to join its
international community of artists and educators. Students enrolled in the
program participate in every aspect of creating, analyzing, and
distributing images including curating shows, publishing books, and
organizing symposiums and conferences. More than just an introduction to
the art world, the program is an immersion in every aspect of today's
visual culture.
The ICP-Bard approach emphasizes creative vision
and openness to examining the many iterations of the image, from
photography to digital imaging, installation, and video. By considering how
photographs are created, presented, discussed, used, and documented,
students gain an intimate knowledge of the ways in which images
increasingly structure modern society and consciousness.
Students gain experience from internationally known artists, critics,
curators, and writers. Classes are conducted at ICP; students have access
to ICP's state-of-the-art facilities, the latest equipment, as well as
ICP's unparalleled collection of photographic prints and artists'
archives.
